Mahabharat’, ‘Chandrakanta’ actor Pankaj Dheer dies at 68 with Cancer



Veteran actor Pankaj Dheer passed away on October 15, 2025, in Mumbai after a prolonged battle with cancer at the age of 68. His death was confirmed by the Cine & TV Artistes’ Association (CINTAA), which noted that Pankaj had served as its former General Secretary and chairman of its trust.

Known widely for his portrayal of Karna in B.R. Chopra’s Mahabharat, Pankaj Dheer’s demise leaves a void in Indian television and mythological storytelling. His health had reportedly been deteriorating for months, with sources indicating that although he had earlier undergone surgery, the cancer relapsed.

He is survived by his son Nikitin Dheer, also a prominent actor, and Pankaj’s wife Anita Dheer. Nikitin, who is married to Kratika Sengar, shared an emotional tribute following his father’s demise, reflecting on life’s transient nature.
