In a thrilling encounter of the Indian Premier League 2026, Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 27 runs in a rain-shortened 11-over match. Despite limited overs, Rajasthan’s batters delivered an explosive performance, with young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi stealing the spotlight.
Teen Sensation Dominates Bumrah
The biggest highlight of the match came when 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi smashed a stunning six off the very first delivery he faced from world-class pacer Jasprit Bumrah. Displaying fearless intent, the youngster went on to hit another massive six in the same over, reading a slower ball perfectly and sending it over midwicket, leaving fans and experts in awe.
Opening the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav provided a blistering start that set the tone for Rajasthan’s big total.
Explosive Batting Powers RR
Rajasthan Royals posted a formidable 150/3 in just 11 overs:
- Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a fiery 77 off 32 balls.
- Vaibhav Suryavanshi contributed a quickfire 39 off just 14 balls, including two sixes against Bumrah.
Their aggressive approach overwhelmed the Mumbai bowling attack in the shortened game.
‘Out of Syllabus Player’: Hardik Pandya
Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya praised the young batter after the match, admitting that his team had no specific plans for Vaibhav. “He was completely out of syllabus for us. His performance was exceptional,” Pandya said.
Former spinner Ravichandran Ashwin also lauded Vaibhav, calling him an “incredible talent” and highlighting that hitting a six off Bumrah’s first ball is no ordinary feat.
A Rising Star in Indian Cricket
Vaibhav Suryavanshi has already made headlines in the past, notably for scoring a rapid century off just 35 balls against Gujarat Titans. Former cricketer Saba Karim has also praised his ability to handle high-speed deliveries with ease, predicting a bright future for the youngster.
Cricket experts believe that if Vaibhav continues this form, he could soon earn a call-up to the Indian national team.
