My Second Birth : Chhavi Mittal Marks Four Years of Beating Breast Cancer, Shares Emotional Journey

Mumbai

Actress Chhavi Mittal has completed four years of her recovery from Breast Cancer and marked the milestone with an emotional reflection on her journey, calling it her “second birth.”

Taking to Instagram, Mittal shared a heartfelt video and note, opening up about the transformative phase of her life. In the video, she said, “There are moments in life after which everything changes. For me, those moments were when I moved to Mumbai, when I became a mother, and four years ago when I underwent breast cancer surgery.”

She added that while people often wish life would return to how it was before, it never does—but that change can lead to something better. “It’s not that life has become worse, it has actually become better,” she said.

Mittal also addressed criticism from those who have asked her to stop talking about cancer or accused her of “playing the victim card.” Responding to trolls, she said she smiles at such comments, noting that perhaps they have never experienced a life-altering moment.

Reflecting on her recovery, she said, “Today, I celebrate not just my rebirth, my new identity, growth, and strength, but also every cancer warrior who feels misunderstood, unheard, or underappreciated. I see you, I hear you, and I appreciate you.”

She revealed that April 25, 2022, marked the first day of her “new life,” when she was officially declared cancer-free after a six-hour surgery. However, she emphasized that the real journey begins after treatment, as healing is not linear.

“Some days I feel completely fine, and on others, I break down. That’s why I’ve learned to live life one day at a time,” she shared, ending her note by wishing herself a “happy birthday” to celebrate her renewed life.

Mittal was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022 and has since been vocal about her recovery journey, using her platform to spread awareness and inspire others battling the disease.
