New Delhi,
Rajasthan Royals (RR) continued their शानदार performance in IPL 2026 with a dominant win over Punjab Kings on Tuesday evening at the New PCA Stadium in Mohali. With this victory, RR equaled Mumbai Indians (MI) and moved ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
This was the sixth instance in IPL history where RR successfully chased a target of 200 or more runs. With this achievement, RR surpassed both RCB and SRH, who have each accomplished this feat five times. MI has also achieved this milestone six times. Punjab Kings hold the record for the most successful chases of 200 or more runs in IPL history, with 10 such instances.
However, Punjab Kings also hold the unwanted record of failing to defend a total of 200 or more runs the most number of times, having lost eight matches despite scoring 200-plus. RCB has lost seven such matches, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) six times, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) five times after posting 200 or more runs.
The match between Punjab Kings and RR marked the ninth successful chase of a 200-plus target in the current IPL season, equaling the record for the most such chases in a single season. This record is likely to be broken this season itself, as IPL 2025 also saw nine successful chases of 200 or more.
Looking at the match, Punjab Kings posted 222/4, thanks to Prabhsimran Singh’s 59 off 44 balls and Marcus Stoinis’ unbeaten 62 off 22 balls. In response, RR chased down the target with ease, scoring 228/4 in 19.2 overs to win by 6 wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 51 off 27 balls, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made 43 off 16 balls, Donovan Ferreira remained unbeaten on 52 off 26 balls, and Shubham Dubey contributed an unbeaten 31 off 12 balls.
