Popular television actress Shilpa Shinde has made a significant revelation regarding one of the most controversial episodes of her career. The actress, who became a household name for her portrayal of Angoori Bhabi in the hit TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, has stated that the sexual harassment allegations she had filed against the show’s producer were false.
Shinde also explained why it took her nearly nine years to publicly disclose this information.
Speaking recently on a podcast hosted by Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa, Shinde said that at the time she felt she had no other way to exit the situation and therefore chose to file a sexual harassment complaint against the producer.
In a subsequent conversation with IANS, Shinde clarified that she had wanted to reveal the complete truth much earlier. However, she said there was an understanding between her and the producers that neither side would discuss the matter publicly in the media.
“I wanted to tell the truth at that time itself, but we had committed not to speak about the issue in the media. It was never a matter of fear. I have never been afraid. I have faced similar situations before because I have never prioritized money over my principles,” she said.
The actress further alleged that several accusations were made against her during the controversy. According to Shinde, these actions were part of an attempt to keep her bound by a contract, especially since the show was enjoying immense popularity at the time.
She added that people who know her are aware that she has always spoken out whenever she sees something she believes is wrong. Even on set, she has never hesitated to express her views and stand up for herself.
Shinde also stated that whenever she feels hurt or uncomfortable in a situation, she chooses to walk away from it, even if doing so affects her professional career. She claimed that this approach has cost her several projects over the years.
Reflecting on the incident during the podcast, she said, “Very few people know this. I am not afraid of speaking the truth. I filed a sexual harassment case against my producer because I had no other option at that time. That was the only way I could get out of the situation, and later the matter was settled.”
Her remarks have reignited discussions about the long-running dispute and have drawn considerable attention from the television industry and audiences alike.
