A major development has emerged in the controversy involving Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh and the upcoming film Don 3. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees has decided to withdraw its non-cooperation directive issued against the actor.
The announcement was made during a press conference by Ashoke Pandit, Chief Advisor of FWICE and a noted filmmaker.
According to Ashoke Pandit, the decision was taken after extensive discussions with major industry bodies, including the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association, the Cine and TV Artistes’ Association, and the Producers Guild of India.
He emphasized that the issue extends beyond an individual and concerns the broader interests of the film industry. Therefore, resolving the matter through dialogue and cooperation was considered essential.
Pandit explained that after issuing the non-cooperation directive, FWICE had formally requested producer organizations to intervene in the matter. This led to detailed discussions with IMPPA President Abhay Sinha.
According to Pandit, IMPPA assured FWICE that if the non-cooperation directive was withdrawn, the association would actively participate in resolving the dispute. The organization also submitted a written communication expressing its commitment to finding an amicable solution.
He further revealed that the Producers Guild of India adopted a similar stance and supported FWICE’s concerns. With all major industry bodies now working together, he expressed confidence that the dispute would soon be resolved.
Pandit also stressed that abandoning a film project at the last minute should not become an accepted practice within the industry, as it can negatively impact producers, technicians, crew members, and numerous others associated with a production. Maintaining trust, accountability, and transparency, he said, is crucial for the industry’s smooth functioning.
FWICE has also appealed to Ranveer Singh to participate in discussions aimed at resolving the issue. Pandit noted that actors of Ranveer Singh’s stature play a vital role in attracting audiences to cinemas and contributing to the industry’s success. The federation hopes that all stakeholders will work together to end the controversy and ensure the continued growth of the film sector.
Meanwhile, actress Upasana Singh, representing CINTAA, stated that protecting the interests of artists remains the organization’s primary responsibility. She described the film industry as a family where disagreements may arise, but solutions can be found through constructive dialogue.
Upasana Singh also praised Ranveer Singh for his contributions to Indian cinema, highlighting that a film’s success depends not only on actors, directors, and producers but also on the efforts of spot boys, light technicians, cameramen, and hundreds of workers whose livelihoods are linked to the industry.
She expressed hope that the ongoing discussions would lead to a resolution that safeguards the interests of all parties involved without causing harm to anyone.
