Hyderabad
Abhishek Sharma delivered a sensational performance to guide Sunrisers Hyderabad to a commanding victory over Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League 2026, while also achieving a major personal milestone.
Opening the innings, the left-handed batter smashed an unbeaten 135 off just 68 balls, hammering 10 fours and 10 sixes. Riding on his explosive knock, SRH posted a massive total of 242/2. In response, Delhi Capitals were restricted to 195, handing SRH a comfortable 47-run victory.
For his outstanding innings, Abhishek was awarded the ‘Player of the Match’ title. This marked his seventh such award in 81 matches for SRH, making him the player with the most Player of the Match awards for the franchise. In doing so, he surpassed former SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who had won the award six times during his tenure with the team.
Bhuvneshwar, who represented SRH from 2014 to 2024 and later joined Royal Challengers Bengaluru in IPL 2025, remains one of the franchise’s most experienced players, having played 145 matches.
This was also Abhishek Sharma’s second century for SRH, making him only the third batter after David Warner and Heinrich Klaasen to score two centuries for the franchise. Notably, in IPL 2025, he had smashed 141 runs off 55 balls against Punjab Kings in another remarkable innings.
With this record-breaking performance, Abhishek Sharma has once again proven his match-winning ability and cemented his place as one of SRH’s most impactful players.
