Mumbai:
Writer-producer Amit Khan is currently garnering attention for his micro-drama series ‘Baby Doll’. The producer believes that the importance of star power in the entertainment industry will always remain relevant.
Speaking to IANS, Amit Khan said, “The world of cinema has always revolved around recognizable faces. Whether it was the superstars of earlier generations or the stars of today, their influence on audiences can never truly fade.”
He noted that while both good and bad content have existed in every era, the biggest change today is the growing demand for strong storytelling. “With the rise of OTT platforms and web series, writing has become more important than ever. The industry now needs writers even more than before. Writing has evolved into a rewarding career. Beyond films and web series, there is now a huge market for stories through audiobooks and digital publishing, including e-books,” he explained.
Amit Khan also disagreed with the common belief that people no longer read books. According to him, reading habits may have changed, but audiences continue to consume stories through modern formats.
“Traditional reading habits may have declined, but readers are still engaging with stories through e-books and audiobooks. My own books are widely read in digital formats, and several of them have also been adapted into audio content,” he said.
He further emphasized that writers today have more opportunities than ever before. “A single story can become an e-book, be translated into multiple languages, adapted into an audiobook, transformed into a web series, or eventually developed into a feature film.”
When asked if there was any actor he dreams of working with, Amit Khan revealed that he would love to collaborate with Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan at least once in his lifetime.
“Shah Rukh Khan has always been my favorite actor. Working with him would be a dream come true for me. I have a subject that I believe would suit him perfectly, and I hope to get an opportunity to present it to him someday. Whether that opportunity comes or not, only time will tell, but collaborating with Shah Rukh Khan remains one of my biggest aspirations,” he said.
