US President Donald Trump began his two-day state visit to the United Kingdom on Wednesday with a grand welcome at Windsor Castle, hosted by King Charles III.
The president’s Marine One helicopter touched down in the private Walled Garden of the Windsor estate. Prince William and his wife, Catherine, Princess of Wales, personally welcomed President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, accompanying them to meet the King and Queen Camilla.
Carriages were polished, regiments of troops stood in perfect formation, the royal silverware was laid out, and crown jewels were prepared for display, setting the stage for a day steeped in tradition and royal pageantry. This visit is historic—not only marking Trump’s second state visit to Britain, but also making him the first US president, and indeed the first world leader, to be accorded such an honour twice.
Beyond the ceremonial splendour, the visit carries diplomatic weight. On Thursday, President Trump is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Keir Starmer to discuss strengthening bilateral relations, with a particular focus on unveiling a new UK-US technology partnership.
