Meanwhile, actor Ajith Kumar cast his vote at a polling booth in Thiruvanmiyur, where his presence attracted a huge crowd of fans. Actor Gautham Karthik was among the early voters at the Stella Maris College polling station.

Actor-politician Vijay, chief of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), also cast his vote at a polling booth in Neelangarai. His party is contesting the elections fully for the first time, with Vijay himself contesting from two constituencies.

The Tamil Nadu Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful polling. Adequate police personnel have been deployed at all polling stations. Voting will continue throughout the day, while counting of votes is scheduled for May 4.
