Traditional Folk Art and Paintings Steal the Spotlight at Sumangal Deepawali Mela 2025

Visitors Applaud the Creativity and Craftsmanship of Rajeevika’s Women Artists

Jaipur. Traditional folk art and paintings became the centre of attraction at the Sumangal Deepawali Mela–2025, where women artists from Rajeevika’s Self-Help Groups (SHGs) showcased their exceptional talent. Renowned folk art expert Dr. Ruma Devi visited the mela and praised the creativity, innovation, and dedication of the participating women artists. She emphasized that such platforms empower rural women by giving them recognition and helping them expand their creative horizons.

The exhibition drew attention not only from local art enthusiasts but also from foreign visitors, who admired the craftsmanship, authenticity, and variety of traditional artworks and local delicacies presented by Rajeevika SHG members. They expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to experience Indian culture up close and lauded the artisans’ attention to detail and cultural expression.

Organized by the Rajasthan Grameen Ajeevika Vikas Parishad (Rajeevika), the mela featured a special display of traditional paintings that reflected the rich heritage of Rajasthan. The collection included Mandala art from Jaipur, Mandana art from Pratapgarh, Bani Thani and Pichwai paintings from Ajmer, along with hand paintings from Jaipur — all intricately crafted by talented SHG women.

Each artwork showcased a seamless blend of rural tradition and artistic finesse. Visitors admired the exquisite detailing, color harmony, and imaginative presentation that highlighted the depth of India’s folk art traditions. The exhibition not only served as a platform for promoting rural creativity but also stood as a powerful symbol of women’s empowerment, self-reliance, and cultural pride.

The Sumangal Deepawali Mela 2025 is being held from October 1 to 12, 2025, at the Indira Gandhi Panchayati Raj Sansthan, Jawaharlal Nehru Marg, Jaipur, from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily. The event continues to captivate visitors with its vibrant displays of traditional attire, handicrafts, authentic Rajasthani delicacies, and local products from across the state — celebrating the spirit of art, culture, and community.
