Two officers of the Indian Air Force have died after a **Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter aircraft crashed in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district during a training mission.
The Air Force confirmed the deaths of Squadron Leader Anuj and Flight Lieutenant Purvesh Durgakar, who were on board the aircraft at the time of the accident.
Crash During Training Mission
According to the Indian Air Force, the Su-30MKI fighter jet had taken off from Jorhat Air Force Station for a routine training sortie. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft crashed in a remote area of Karbi Anglong, around 60 kilometers from Jorhat.
The incident was first reported late Thursday night when the aircraft went down during the mission.
Officers Succumb to Injuries
In an update posted on social media platform X, the Indian Air Force said both officers were critically injured in the crash and later succumbed to their injuries.
The Air Force expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the two personnel, stating that all members of the force stand in solidarity with the bereaved families.
Authorities are expected to conduct a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
