In Match 43 of Indian Premier League 2026, Delhi Capitals (DC) secured a remarkable 7-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium. The win is being described as special and historic for Delhi, marking their highest successful run chase in IPL history.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, RR captain Riyan Parag led from the front with a blistering 90 off 50 balls. He was well supported by Donovan Ferreira, who smashed 47 off just 14 deliveries, and Dhruv Jurel, who contributed 42 off 32 balls. Rajasthan Royals posted a formidable total of 225/6 in 20 overs.
In response, Delhi Capitals chased down the target in 19.1 overs, scoring 226/3. KL Rahul anchored the innings with 75 off 40 balls, while Pathum Nissanka added 62 off 33 balls. Nitish Rana provided the finishing touch with a quick 33 off 17 balls, sealing a convincing 7-wicket win.
This marks Delhi Capitals’ biggest successful chase in IPL history. Previously, their highest chases included 210 against Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, 209 against Gujarat Lions in IPL 2017, and 207 against Punjab Kings in IPL 2025.
Despite the historic win, Delhi Capitals continue to search for their maiden IPL title. The team is known for strong starts but has often struggled to maintain consistency, frequently missing out on playoff qualification.
After beginning IPL 2026 with two consecutive wins, DC lost five of their next seven matches, putting their playoff hopes in jeopardy. The victory against RR comes after three consecutive defeats. Currently, Delhi Capitals are placed sixth on the points table with 8 points from 9 matches, having won four games so far.
