I Don’t Want to Bring Negativity Into My Character : Jameel Khan

Mumbai:

The fifth season of the popular web series Gullak has been receiving an overwhelming response from audiences. Known for its simplicity and realistic portrayal of a middle-class Indian family, the show continues to strike a chord with viewers. Amid its success, actor Jameel Khan, who plays the beloved character of Santosh Mishra, opened up about his role and personal philosophy in an interaction with IANS.

Speaking about his character, Jameel Khan said, “I do not see Santosh Mishra merely as a role that I perform. I connect with him on a personal level. The character is inspired by my father, and I have incorporated many of my own life experiences into the role. When an actor brings real emotions and experiences into a character, it becomes more authentic and impactful.”

The actor added that his outlook on life has always been rooted in positivity, sensitivity, and love. “I strongly believe in preserving these values in life. That is why I portray Santosh Mishra with the same mindset. I do not want my character to send any negative message to society,” he said.

Commenting on today’s social environment, Jameel observed that negativity is growing rapidly while positivity seems to be diminishing. “In such times, I believe people should pay more attention to good and uplifting stories. Showing negativity is easy, but the real challenge lies in presenting goodness and conveying it meaningfully to people,” he said.

He further explained that he sees life from a broader perspective. “A family is not just a small unit; it is the foundation of society. If there is the right thinking and behaviour within a family, it eventually influences society and the larger community. This perspective helps me understand my characters deeply and portray them with sincerity,” he added.
