IPL 2026: Ajinkya Rahane Proud of KKR Comeback Despite Defeat, Says Everyone Worked Hard

Ajinkya Rahane said he was proud of the fighting spirit shown by Kolkata Knight Riders despite their disappointing end to the IPL 2026 season. KKR suffered a 40-run defeat against Delhi Capitals at Eden Gardens on Sunday.

Rahane admitted that the season did not go according to plan but praised the team for making a strong comeback after a poor start to the tournament.

Rahane Reflects on KKR’s Performance

After the match, Rahane said:

“I am really proud of everyone. The situation we were in after six matches and then making a comeback required character, resilience, and a positive attitude. Everyone worked extremely hard throughout the season.”

The KKR captain also spoke about his own batting effort and the challenging pitch conditions.

“The wicket was slightly difficult in the beginning. I was batting well and knew one batter had to stay till the end. I tried to rotate strike and take my chances whenever possible.”

KKR’s Season Journey

KKR’s IPL 2026 campaign had a difficult beginning, as the team failed to register a single win in their first six matches. However, they bounced back strongly by winning six of their next seven games and stayed alive in the playoff race until the final stages.

Despite the turnaround, KKR could not qualify for the playoffs and finished seventh on the points table.
