IPL 2026: RCB Climb to Second Spot After Beating GT; Virat Kohli Claims Orange Cap

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 34 of Indian Premier League 2026 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Friday, climbing to second place in the points table.

The win was powered by explosive बल्लेबाजी from Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal, who guided RCB to a comfortable chase.

Points Table Update:
Punjab Kings lead the standings with 11 points from six matches. RCB follow in second place with 10 points from seven games, while Rajasthan Royals are third with the same points. Sunrisers Hyderabad occupy the fourth spot with eight points.

Chennai Super Kings are fifth with six points, followed by Delhi Capitals in sixth. GT are seventh, while Mumbai Indians, Lucknow Super Giants, and Kolkata Knight Riders occupy the eighth, ninth, and tenth spots respectively. Teams with equal points are separated by net run rate.

Orange Cap Race:
Kohli, who scored a match-winning 81 off 44 balls (including 8 fours and 4 sixes), was named Player of the Match and has now become the leading run-scorer of the season. He surpassed Abhishek Sharma to claim the Orange Cap, taking his tally to 328 runs in seven matches. Abhishek is second with 323 runs, while Heinrich Klaasen is third with 320 runs.

Purple Cap Standings:
The Purple Cap remains with Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings, who has taken 14 wickets in seven matches. Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants is second with 13 wickets, followed by Eshan Malinga of Sunrisers Hyderabad with 12 wickets.
