MCA Honours Shardul Thakur, Siddhesh Lad as Cricketers of the Year; Full Winners List Announced

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) honoured top performers from domestic cricket in a grand awards ceremony, with Shardul Thakur and Siddhesh Lad being named ‘Cricketer of the Year’ for the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons respectively.

Lad received the prestigious Justice Tendulkar Trophy for the 2025–26 season, while Thakur was awarded the same honour for the 2024–25 season, along with the Dattu Phadkar Award for his outstanding performance in the Ranji Trophy.

The ceremony celebrated Mumbai’s rich cricketing legacy and recognized players who contributed significantly across formats and age groups. Several international and domestic achievers were felicitated, including Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube, who were part of India’s T20 World Cup-winning squad.

Young talents were also in the spotlight. Ayush Mhatre, who captained India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning team, was honoured alongside other rising stars. Players like Jemimah Rodrigues, Sanika Chalke, and Abhigyan Kundu were also recognized for their contributions to India’s recent global successes.

The MCA also acknowledged grassroots and domestic excellence, awarding scholarships under the Sharad Pawar scheme to emerging players and recognizing top performers in junior categories across Under-14, Under-16, Under-19, and women’s cricket.

Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to veteran contributors, including Chandrakant Patankar and Ravindra Sawant for 2024–25, and Shobha Pandit and Shrikant Tigdi for 2025–26, recognising their decades-long service to Mumbai cricket.

The association also highlighted its continued dominance in domestic competitions, celebrating title wins in tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Senior Women’s T20 Trophy, and multiple age-group championships.

Overall, the awards night underscored Mumbai’s consistent contribution to Indian cricket, from nurturing young talent to producing international stars.
