T20 World Cup: Harmeet’s Four-Fer Powers USA to 93-Run Win Over Netherlands

The USA registered a commanding 93-run victory over the Netherlands in the 21st match of the T20 World Cup 2026, played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday. With this win, the USA opened its account in the tournament and moved to third place in the Group A points table.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat, the USA posted a strong total of 196 for 6. The team suffered an early setback at 27 when Shayan Jahangir was dismissed for 20. Thereafter, Monank Patel and Saiteja Mukkamalla stitched together a 55-run partnership off 37 balls for the second wicket. Captain Monank scored 36 off 22 deliveries, hitting four boundaries before returning to the pavilion.

Saiteja then added 23 runs with Sanjay Krishnamurthi (1) and followed it up with a crucial 54-run stand alongside Shubham Ranjane to take the team to a competitive total. Shubham remained unbeaten on 48 off 24 balls, smashing two sixes and three fours, while Saiteja played a brilliant knock of 79 off 51 deliveries, including four sixes and five boundaries.

For the Netherlands, Bas de Leede was the standout bowler, claiming 3 wickets for 37 runs. Logan van Beek, Kyle Klein, and Fred Klaassen picked up one wicket each.

In response, the Netherlands were bowled out for just 103 runs in 15.5 overs. Michael Levitt was dismissed early for 3 with the score at 9. Bas de Leede then combined with Max O’Dowd for a 32-run partnership off 23 balls for the second wicket.

Max O’Dowd scored 23 off 17 balls with two boundaries before being dismissed, and the Netherlands continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Captain Scott Edwards contributed 20 runs off 14 balls, while Roelof van der Merwe added 10 before heading back to the pavilion.

For the USA, Harmeet Singh starred with the ball, taking four wickets. Shadley van Schalkwyk claimed three wickets, while Mohammad Mohsin took two. One wicket was picked up by Nosthush Kenjige.
