KL Rahul Breaks AB de Villiers Record in IPL 2026; Becomes No.1 Against Rajasthan Royals

In the 62nd match of the Indian Premier League 2026, Delhi Capitals defeated Rajasthan Royals by five wickets at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium. KL Rahul played a crucial role in the victory with a शानदार innings, while also scripting history by breaking a major IPL record.

Rahul scored 56 runs off 42 balls, including one boundary and three sixes. During this innings, he surpassed AB de Villiers to become the player with the most 50-plus scores against Rajasthan Royals in IPL history. Rahul has now registered nine such scores against RR, overtaking de Villiers’ previous record of eight.

In the list, Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli jointly occupy the third position with seven 50-plus scores each against Rajasthan Royals.

Delhi Capitals Chase Down Target Comfortably

Chasing a target of 194 runs, Delhi Capitals got off to a strong start with an opening partnership between KL Rahul and Abishek Porel. The duo added 105 runs for the first wicket in 10.1 overs.

Porel contributed 51 runs off 31 balls, while Rahul anchored the innings with his composed knock. Later, Axar Patel played a quick unbeaten knock of 34 runs off 18 balls, and Ashutosh Sharma finished the game in style with an unbeaten 18 off just 5 balls. Delhi Capitals reached the target in 19.2 overs, losing five wickets.

Rajasthan Royals Post Competitive Total

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals posted 193/8 in their 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed early for 12 runs, but Vaibhav Suryavanshi impressed with a quickfire 46 off 21 balls.

Dhruv Jurel scored a solid 53 off 40 balls, while captain Riyan Parag smashed 51 runs off just 26 deliveries, including three fours and five sixes.

In bowling, Mitchell Starc starred for Delhi Capitals with four wickets for 40 runs, while Lungi Ngidi picked up two wickets for 24 runs.

With this victory, Delhi Capitals strengthened their position in the tournament, while KL Rahul’s record-breaking performance became the highlight of the match.
