Kriti Kharbanda Opens Up About Social Media Pressure, Says Young People Are Trapped in the Race to Appear Better

Mumbai

Actress Kriti Kharbanda on Thursday expressed concern over the growing mental and emotional pressure that social media is placing on young people. Sharing a note on her Instagram Stories, the actress revealed that she recently met several young individuals who are struggling under the weight of the digital world.

Kriti wrote, “Today, I met a group of people who were emotionally, physically, and mentally exhausted. Their work was challenging and filled with uncertainty. Almost all of them spoke about the pressure of maintaining a constant presence on social media.”

She explained that although these young individuals possess big dreams and the determination to achieve them, social media often becomes an obstacle rather than a support system.

Reflecting on her interactions, Kriti noted that one common factor connected all of them. “They were trapped in a relentless race to stay active online and present a better version of themselves. They are constantly comparing themselves to others and feel pressured to keep posting, even when they don’t want to,” she wrote.

The actress further pointed out that many of these individuals preferred to keep their personal lives private but feared that doing so would make them seem less appealing or relevant in the eyes of others.

Expressing her concern, Kriti said, “It broke my heart. I wish people understood that social media is only a small part of life, not life itself. Even without social media, it is possible to live a beautiful, peaceful, and fulfilling life.”

Kriti also urged young people to prioritize their mental well-being and not feel obligated to share every aspect of their lives online.

“We should normalize not sharing personal details and not allowing everyone access to our private lives. A person’s worth should never be determined by their social media account,” she wrote.

The actress acknowledged that her thoughts might sound like a complaint to some, but she believes many people silently feel the same way. Through her message, she highlighted the importance of maintaining a healthy relationship with social media and protecting one’s mental peace in an increasingly digital world.
