Ayesha Takia : Left Bollywood After a Few Hits, Embraced Islam for Marriage

Mumbai.

A charming smile and an effortlessly stylish persona—this is about Ayesha Takia, who began her career alongside Ajay Devgn.

Ayesha rose to fame with Tarzan: The Wonder Car and won millions of hearts with her simplicity. Today, she is away from films and is busy with her personal life and social work, but her superhit films like Wanted are still loved by audiences. The actress is celebrating her 40th birthday on April 10.

Born in Mumbai, Ayesha Takia had decided in her childhood that she would become a part of Hindi cinema. She expressed this desire at the young age of five and appeared in her first video song at just 15. She made her debut with singer Falguni Pathak’s song Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye. Her very first song became a superhit, and success followed soon after.

In 2004, the doors of Bollywood opened for Ayesha. She was cast opposite Abhay Deol in the film Socha Na Tha. Although the shooting was completed, the film was not released on time. She was then cast in Tarzan: The Wonder Car, which released in 2004, while Socha Na Tha eventually released in 2005.

With Tarzan: The Wonder Car, Ayesha made a strong impact in Bollywood, as her lively and bubbly style won the hearts of fans. She also received the Best Filmfare Debut Award for this film. Ayesha worked in movies like Dil Maange More, Wanted, Salaam-e-Ishq, Paathshaala, Shaadi No. 1, and the Telugu film Super. However, most of her films did not perform well at the box office. Still, her film Wanted with Salman Khan received widespread appreciation.

Her last film, Mod, also did not succeed at the box office, but her performance was highly appreciated. In the film, she portrayed a serious woman instead of her usual bubbly roles. After this film, Ayesha left Bollywood, married her boyfriend Farhan Azmi, and embraced Islam. Since then, she has not returned to cinema.

She has clearly stated that after marriage, she wants to focus only on her personal life and has no plans to return to films.
