IPL 2026: After the batters, Bhuvneshwar shines with the ball as RCB defeat CSK by 43 runs

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) continued their winning momentum in IPL 2026. On Sunday, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 43 runs. This was RCB’s second consecutive victory, while CSK suffered their third straight loss of the season. Chasing a massive target of 251 runs set by RCB, CSK were bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs.

Chasing 251, Chennai Super Kings had a poor start. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was dismissed for just 7 runs, while Sanju Samson scored 9 runs off 5 balls. Ayush Mhatre failed to impress, managing only 1 run, and Karthik Sharma continued his disappointing form, scoring just 6 runs off 3 balls. Shivam Dube also couldn’t capitalize on his start and was dismissed for 18 runs off 13 balls by Abhinandan Singh.

Sarfaraz Khan held one end firmly, playing a शानदार knock of 50 runs off 25 balls, which included 8 fours and 2 sixes. Prashant Veer scored 43 runs off 29 balls and added 57 runs for the seventh wicket with Jamie Overton, who contributed 37 runs. Noor Ahmad was dismissed for 8 runs by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, while Matt Henry was dismissed for 2 runs by Abhinandan Singh.

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. Jacob Duffy and Krunal Pandya claimed two wickets each.

Earlier, RCB posted a massive total of 250 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 20 overs, thanks to a strong batting performance. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt gave the team a steady start, adding 37 runs for the first wicket. Kohli scored 18 runs, while Salt made 46 runs off 30 balls. Batting at number three, Devdutt Padikkal played a solid innings of 50 runs off 29 balls, hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Captain Rajat Patidar played a quick unbeaten knock of 48 runs off just 19 balls at a strike rate of 252, while Tim David smashed a शानदार 70 runs off 25 balls. The duo added an unbeaten 99-run partnership for the fourth wicket. Tim David’s explosive innings included 3 fours and 8 sixes.

For CSK, Anshul Kamboj, Shivam Dube, and Jamie Overton picked up one wicket each. This marked Chennai Super Kings’ third consecutive loss of the season.
