A thrilling encounter in IPL 2026 witnessed Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeating Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, with opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi delivering a sensational performance that even impressed star batter Virat Kohli.
Following the match, Kohli penned a special message on Suryavanshi’s cap, writing, “Dear Vaibhav, well played,” a gesture seen as a significant boost of encouragement for the young cricketer.
Kohli’s praise came after Suryavanshi’s explosive innings, which played a decisive role in RR’s victory. The young opener smashed 78 runs off just 26 balls, including seven sixes and eight fours, earning the Player of the Match award.
Suryavanshi’s performance not only secured a six-wicket win for Rajasthan Royals but also propelled him to the top of the Orange Cap standings. He has now scored 200 runs in four matches this season.
Earlier in the match, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and opted to bowl. Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a competitive total of 201 for 8 in their 20 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar led the scoring with 63 runs, while Virat Kohli contributed 32. Venkatesh Iyer added 29, and Romario Shepherd chipped in with 22 runs.
In response, RR chased down the target of 202 runs in just 18 overs, losing four wickets. Alongside Suryavanshi’s brilliance, wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel played a crucial knock of 81 runs off 43 balls, including three sixes and eight boundaries, ensuring a comfortable victory for his side.
