In the 9th match of IPL 2026 on Saturday, Rajasthan Royals (RR) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by 6 runs at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium. Chasing a target of 211 runs set by RR, GT could only manage 204 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs. This marks Rajasthan Royals’ second consecutive win of the season.
Chasing the massive target of 211, Gujarat Titans got off to a strong start. Kumar Kushagra and Sai Sudharsan added 78 runs for the first wicket in 7.6 overs. Kushagra scored 18 runs, while Sudharsan looked in great form, playing a शानदार innings of 73 runs off 44 balls, including 9 fours and 3 sixes. Jos Buttler failed to capitalize on his start and was dismissed after scoring 26 runs off 14 balls. Glenn Phillips managed only 3 runs, while Washington Sundar scored 4. Rahul Tewatia contributed 12 runs off 6 balls, and Shahrukh Khan added 11 runs off 4 balls.
In the final overs, Rashid Khan and Kagiso Rabada stitched a quick 43-run partnership in 30 balls, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory. Rashid scored 24 runs off 16 balls, while Rabada remained unbeaten on 23 off 16 balls. Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande bowled brilliantly in the last two overs. For Rajasthan Royals, Ravi Bishnoi was the standout bowler, taking 4 wickets for 41 runs in his 4-over spell. Nandre Burger and Tushar Deshpande picked up one wicket each.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Rajasthan Royals made a strong start with the bat. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi added 70 runs for the first wicket in 6.2 overs. Vaibhav scored 31 runs off 18 balls with 5 fours and a six, while Jaiswal played a शानदार knock of 55 runs off 36 balls.
Batting at number three, Dhruv Jurel was in excellent form and scored a brilliant 75 runs off 42 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes. He also shared an important 56-run partnership for the second wicket with Jaiswal. Shimron Hetmyer contributed 18 runs off 8 balls.
However, captain Riyan Parag couldn’t make a significant impact and was dismissed for 8 runs. Ravindra Jadeja remained unbeaten on 7. Riding on the strong performances from Jurel and Jaiswal, Rajasthan Royals posted a total of 210 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. For Gujarat Titans, Kagiso Rabada was the most successful bowler with 2 wickets.
This was Rajasthan Royals’ second consecutive win, while Gujarat Titans suffered their second straight defeat of the season.
