Childhood Doesn’t Reveal Parents’ Struggles, You Understand Them Later in Life: Shubhangi Atre

Mumbai

Television actress Shubhangi Atre has opened up about the invaluable contribution of her father to her life and career, saying that she only understood her parents’ sacrifices and struggles as she grew older.

Speaking to IANS, Shubhangi said that children often fail to realize the responsibilities their parents shoulder because life seems easy and comfortable during childhood.

“During childhood, you don’t understand how many responsibilities your parents are carrying. Life feels easy and comfortable. But as you grow older, you realize how much hard work and struggle went into raising you. My father has always kept the family’s needs above everything else, but he never let us see his struggles or difficulties,” she said.

The actress shared that her father always fulfilled every responsibility, whether it was dealing with financial pressures or taking care of the family’s needs.

“He never allowed us to feel any lack in our lives. The most remarkable thing was that he never showed his struggles and always behaved as if everything was perfectly normal. I understood this only later, when I started experiencing life’s responsibilities myself,” she added.

Describing her father’s personality, Shubhangi said, “He is a very disciplined, strong and principled person. He always chooses the right path, no matter how difficult the circumstances are. He has always supported me, given me the freedom to make my own decisions, and trusted me at every step. That trust has been the biggest source of my confidence.”

Expressing gratitude, the actress said she regrets never openly thanking her father earlier.

“Now, I just want to tell him, ‘Papa, thank you for always being there for me. I love you very much, and I will always be grateful for every sacrifice and struggle you have endured,'” she said.
