In Sunday’s general elections, the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Sanai Takaichi returned to power with a massive mandate, marking a decisive victory. In Japan’s 465-member lower house, the coalition of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Japan Innovation Party secured a total of 352 seats. Japanese media outlets and public broadcaster NHK described the result as a “historic victory,” calling it a strong public endorsement of Takaichi’s leadership.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Sanai Takaichi on the emphatic win through a message on social media platform X. Highlighting the global significance of India–Japan relations, PM Modi said that the Special Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries is vital for ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in the world.
