In Sunday’s general elections, the ruling coalition led by Prime Minister Sanai Takaichi returned to power with a massive mandate, marking a decisive victory. In Japan’s 465-member lower house, the coalition of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and the Japan Innovation Party secured a total of 352 seats. Japanese media outlets and public broadcaster NHK described the result as a “historic victory,” calling it a strong public endorsement of Takaichi’s leadership.
