Shammi Kapoor Could not Hold Back Tears During Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Shoot

A nostalgic and emotional moment will be seen in the upcoming episode of Indian Idol, where the legendary duo of Mohammed Rafi and Shammi Kapoor will be remembered through the iconic song Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein.

The special episode, dedicated to Asha Bhosle, will also feature lyricist and poet Manoj Muntashir, who shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story related to the song.

According to Manoj Muntashir, Shammi Kapoor was initially unwilling to shoot the song. He revealed that when the track was first played to the actor during the making of Brahmachari, the entire set was shocked after hearing that Shammi Kapoor had refused to film it.

However, the reason had nothing to do with disliking the song. Manoj explained that the music composed by the legendary duo Shankar–Jaikishan was so emotionally powerful that Shammi Kapoor feared he would not be able to control his tears while performing the scene.

Manoj quoted the actor as saying, “I know myself… please change this song,” because the scene did not require him to cry, yet the emotions of the composition were overwhelming.

He further shared that Shammi Kapoor himself later admitted in an interview that controlling his emotions during the shooting of the song was extremely difficult, and only his heart truly understood the feeling behind that moment.

Recently, Manoj Muntashir also praised the web series Chiraiya streaming on JioHotstar, saying that art and storytelling carry social responsibility and that OTT platforms should also understand their role in shaping a more sensitive and responsible society.
