Neetu Kapoor Says Friends Helped Her More Than Therapy After Rishi Kapoor’s Death

Mumbai

Veteran actress Neetu Kapoor recently opened up about dealing with grief after the demise of her husband, legendary actor Rishi Kapoor. Speaking on Soha Ali Khan’s podcast “All About Her,” Neetu shared that while many people advised her to seek therapy, she personally found greater comfort in friends, family, and work.

Talking about the difficult phase following Rishi Kapoor’s death in April 2020, Neetu revealed that she did visit a therapist after receiving suggestions from people around her. However, she said she could not connect with the process emotionally.

Neetu Kapoor said, “That period was extremely difficult for me. I did try speaking to a therapist because many people advised me to do so, but deep inside I never felt that it was the right method for me.”

The actress added that she believes close friends are often more important than therapy. According to her, everyone should have a few trusted people with whom they can openly share their feelings without fear or hesitation.

She explained, “I feel good friends are more important than therapy. When you share your pain and emotions with people you trust, your heart feels lighter. Sometimes the support of loved ones becomes the biggest medicine.”

Neetu further recalled how emotionally broken and lonely she felt after losing Rishi Kapoor. She admitted that during therapy sessions, she often questioned whether the process was truly helping her. She also mentioned that techniques like meditation and guided exercises did not work for her personally.

The actress emphasized that every person heals differently. While therapy may help many people, she found strength through family support, meaningful conversations, and staying busy with work.

“Work helped me become mentally stronger. Spending time with family and friends slowly gave me the strength to come out of grief,” she said.

Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 after battling cancer, leaving behind a legacy as one of Hindi cinema’s most beloved actors.
