Malayalam filmmaker Tarun Moorthy has clarified that his recent meeting with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi was not related to a Telugu remake of the successful Malayalam film Thudarum.
Following the massive success of “Thudarum,” starring Mohanlal, speculation had been growing that the film might soon get a Telugu remake. The rumours became stronger after Tarun Moorthy shared a picture with Chiranjeevi on social media.
However, the director addressed the speculation through an Instagram post, explaining that the meeting was purely personal and had nothing to do with remake discussions.
Tarun Moorthy revealed, “I received a call from Chiranjeevi sir’s team informing me that he wanted to meet me personally. Hearing that itself was a huge moment for me, and I immediately went to meet him.”
The director also shared details about the memorable interaction, saying that they discussed films and personal experiences during the meeting. He expressed surprise and happiness at how deeply Chiranjeevi had observed his work.
“He spoke in detail about scenes and stories from my films. I was amazed to see how carefully such a legendary actor had watched my work,” Tarun said.
Praising the veteran actor further, the filmmaker added that Chiranjeevi still watches films with the same excitement and curiosity as a child discovering something new, which makes him stand apart from many others in the industry.
Tarun Moorthy described the meeting as one of the most special moments of his life and said it gave him even more motivation to dream bigger as a filmmaker.
Meanwhile, the director is currently busy working on his upcoming film Athimanoharam, which stars Mohanlal in the lead role as police officer T. S. Lovelajan. Actress Meera Jasmine will also play a key role in the film.
