Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched the Women’s Premier League (WPL) title for the second time, defeating Delhi Capitals by six wickets in the final played on Thursday at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara. With this victory, Bengaluru successfully defended the title they first won in 2024, while Delhi suffered the heartbreak of losing their fourth consecutive WPL final.

Chasing a challenging target of 204 runs, RCB produced a dominant batting performance, reaching the target in 19.4 overs with four wickets in hand.

Captain Smriti Mandhana led from the front with a brilliant knock of 87 runs, reaching her half-century in just 23 balls. She was well supported by Georgia Voll, who smashed 79 runs. The duo shared a match-defining 165-run partnership off just 92 balls, dismantling Delhi’s bowling attack and putting Bengaluru firmly in control of the chase.

For Delhi Capitals, captain Jemimah Rodrigues fought back with a valiant 57 off 37 balls, which included eight boundaries. Laura Wolvaardt scored an unbeaten 44, while Shinelle Henry added 35 not out. Earlier, Lizelle Lee contributed 37 runs, and Shafali Verma made 20.

From the RCB bowling unit, Sayali Satghare, Nadine de Klerk, and Arundhati Reddy picked up one wicket each, while one Delhi batter was run out.

Repeated Final Heartbreak for Delhi

This was Delhi Capitals’ fourth appearance in a WPL final, but their search for a maiden title continues. Bengaluru, on the other hand, made the most of the opportunity, reinforcing their dominance in the league by lifting the trophy for the second time.
