FIFA World Cup: Switzerland Beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1, Johan Manzambi Stars with Brace

Switzerland produced an impressive performance to defeat Bosnia and Herzegovina 4-1 in their Group B match of the FIFA World Cup 2026. Johan Manzambi emerged as the hero for Switzerland, scoring twice to guide his side to a convincing victory.

Played at Los Angeles Stadium, the match began with both teams displaying solid defensive performances, resulting in a goalless first half. Switzerland dominated possession and repeatedly put pressure on Bosnia and Herzegovina’s defence but failed to find the breakthrough before the interval.

The Swiss side came out with greater intensity in the second half. In the 74th minute, Johan Manzambi broke the deadlock by scoring the opening goal to put Switzerland ahead 1-0.

Bosnia and Herzegovina suffered another major setback in the 80th minute when defender Tarik Muharemovic received a straight red card for a foul, forcing his team to continue with 10 men.

Switzerland quickly capitalised on their numerical advantage. Ruben Vargas doubled the lead in the 84th minute with a fine finish to make it 2-0.

In the closing stages, Manzambi struck again to score his second goal of the match and Switzerland’s third, effectively ending any hopes of a Bosnia and Herzegovina comeback.

Bosnia and Herzegovina managed to pull one back in stoppage time through Ermin Mahmic, but Switzerland captain Granit Xhaka responded almost immediately with another goal to seal a dominant 4-1 victory.

After drawing their opening match, Switzerland strengthened their chances of reaching the knockout stage with this win. Meanwhile, Bosnia and Herzegovina now face a must-win situation in their next match to keep their qualification hopes alive.
