Aditya Dhar’s film Dhurandhar: The Revenge is breaking box office records and has crossed ₹1,600 crore globally.
The film features several characters with limited screen time but significant impact. One such role is Danish Iqbal’s portrayal of Dawood, which has brought him overnight popularity. But do you know how he got this role?
After playing the character of “Bade Sahab” in Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Danish Iqbal has become the talk of the town. While his performance is being widely appreciated, the way he was approached for the role was quite unusual. The actor himself shared this story through a video on Instagram.
Danish revealed that he initially received a message asking about his height and weight. At first, he was confused whether it was for casting or something else. After he responded, he was told that it was a requirement for a role. Later, he received a call from casting director Mukesh Chhabra, who mentioned a character named “Dawood.” At that time, the full details weren’t disclosed, so he assumed it was just a character name.
The makers tried their best to maintain suspense before the film’s release, as these smaller roles were expected to add depth to the story—and they indeed did.
Earlier, in an interview, the actor had revealed that he had to undergo long hours of makeup for the role of “Bade Sahab.” He shared that if his shift was from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., he would reach the set as early as 3 a.m. Around five to six people worked on his look, and the process took nearly nine hours.
He further explained that the prosthetic process was not only exhausting but also came with several restrictions. Breathing became difficult, and once the process was complete, he couldn’t eat or drink normally. He would sweat inside the makeup and often felt suffocated. Throughout the day, he relied mostly on liquids—occasionally having some juice and sometimes a bit of dark chocolate for energy.
