India Clinch Record Sixth Under-19 World Cup Title, Defeat England by 100 Runs

India created history by winning the Under-19 Cricket World Cup for the sixth time, defeating England by a massive 100-run margin in the final played at the Harare Sports Club on Friday. The emphatic victory further strengthened India’s dominance in age-group international cricket.

After winning the toss, India opted to bat first and posted a mammoth 411 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs, the highest team total in an Under-19 World Cup final. The innings was powered by a sensational knock from 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who produced one of the greatest performances in tournament history.

Vaibhav smashed a breathtaking 175 runs off just 80 balls, scoring at an extraordinary strike rate of 218.75. His innings included 15 fours and 15 sixes, with 150 of his runs coming from boundaries alone. His knock set a new record for the highest individual score in an Under-19 World Cup final. Captain Ayush Mhatre also contributed with a steady 53-run innings. For England, Sebastian Morgan and Alex Green claimed two wickets each.

Chasing a daunting target of 412 runs, England were bowled out for 311 in 40.2 overs despite a fighting century by Caleb Faulkner, who scored 115 runs off 67 balls. Opener Ben Dawkins added 66 runs. India’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the chase, with RS Ambrish picking up three wickets, while Dipesh Devendran and Kanishk Chauhan took two wickets each.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was named Player of the Match for his historic innings and was also adjudged Player of the Tournament, capping off a dream campaign.

With this victory, India lifted their sixth Under-19 World Cup trophy, reinforcing their reputation as the most successful team in the tournament’s history.
