The Mumbai Crime Branch produced accused Vishnu Kushwaha, who was arrested from Agra in connection with the firing incident outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence in Juhu, before a special MCOCA court. The court has remanded him to police custody till February 25.

According to Advocate Dilip Shukla, the accused was presented before the special MCOCA court, which granted custody to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further investigation. With this arrest, the total number of accused apprehended in the case has reached 12. Those arrested so far include Jatin Vishnu Kushwaha, Ramesh Bhardwaj, Sonu Kumar, Vishal Thakur, Sunny Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Hritik Vinod Singh Yadav, and Deepak Chandra.

Police investigations have revealed new details. Before the firing, the accused allegedly conducted reconnaissance of Rohit Shetty’s residence four to five times between January 18 and January 31. The main accused, Deepak Ramesh Chandra, allegedly opened fire, while Sunny, Sonu, and another absconding accused were involved in the incident. Deepak was present at the exact spot during the firing, while the others were nearby but not directly at the scene.

Accused Sonu had reportedly been living in Kalyan for nearly two years and was allegedly involved in supplying weapons. A few months ago, he returned to his village in Agra but remained in contact with the other accused through old connections. After the firing incident, the four accused reportedly reached Kalyan railway station separately and boarded a train to Agra.

The incident occurred on the night of February 1, when four to five rounds were fired outside Rohit Shetty’s residence. Neither Rohit Shetty nor anyone else was injured. Following the incident, security in the area was tightened. The Crime Branch has made arrests across multiple states and is examining mobile phones, call detail records, and other evidence. The accused have been booked under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

Meanwhile, in the case related to threats received by actor Ranveer Singh, no direct link with these accused has been established so far. However, police have stated that this angle will also be investigated. Authorities suspect the possible involvement of a larger criminal network.
