These 4 Yoga Movements Can Relieve Neck and Shoulder Stiffness, Boost Energy, and Reduce Stress

New Delhi

The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, recommends incorporating yoga into daily life. According to the ministry, in today’s fast-paced world, the human brain processes far more information than ever before, often resulting in stress, muscle stiffness, and fatigue.

The ministry advises taking a few minutes to pause and practice deep breathing to prevent stress from accumulating in the neck, shoulders, and back. It also recommends simple yoga movements that help reduce physical tension, improve mobility, and bring attention back to the present moment.

The easy movements suggested by the Ministry of AYUSH include trunk twisting, knee movements, shoulder movements, and neck movements. These exercises can be performed anywhere without the need for any equipment. In addition to reducing physical fatigue, these simple practices help calm the mind. Incorporating them into your daily routine can boost energy levels, reduce stress, and improve overall well-being.

Trunk Twisting:
This movement involves gently twisting the waist from side to side. It helps relieve stiffness in the back and lower back, improves spinal flexibility, and supports better digestion.

Knee Movement:
Gently rotating or bending the knees up and down helps reduce stiffness in the legs and knee joints. It is particularly beneficial for people who spend long hours sitting.

Shoulder Movement:
Rolling the shoulders forward, backward, and in circular motions helps release tension in the shoulders and upper neck area almost instantly.

Neck Movement:
Slowly moving the neck from side to side, up and down, and in gentle rotations can help alleviate neck pain caused by prolonged screen time.
