Mumbai

Veteran comedian Johnny Lever recently shared a hilarious incident involving actor Anil Kapoor, revealing how a prank call left the actor completely nervous.

During an episode of The Kapil Sharma Show, host Kapil Sharma asked Johnny Lever whether he had ever played a prank on someone over the phone. In response, Johnny recalled a memorable incident from the shooting days of the film Tezaab.

Johnny revealed that he once called Anil Kapoor while impersonating veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha. Speaking in Shatrughan Sinha’s style, he said, “Anil, how are you? Is everything fine? Where are you? Let’s meet in the evening. Oh, so you have come for the shooting of Tezaab? Very good, very good. Let’s meet later in the evening.”

Hearing what he believed was Shatrughan Sinha on the other end of the line, Anil Kapoor became visibly nervous and kept responding politely with, “Yes sir, yes sir.”

Watching Anil Kapoor’s reaction, Johnny Lever could not control his laughter. He eventually revealed that the caller was not Shatrughan Sinha but Johnny Lever himself. The prank reportedly left Anil Kapoor quite annoyed.

Directed by N. Chandra, Tezaab starred Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in lead roles. The film also featured Anupam Kher, Chunky Pandey, Aruna Irani, Suparna Anand, Kiran Kumar, Annu Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, and Tej Sapru in supporting roles.

The romantic drama’s music was composed by the legendary duo Laxmikant–Pyarelal. Released in theaters on November 11, 1988, Tezaab became the highest-grossing Indian film of that year and remains one of Bollywood’s most memorable classics.

On the work front, Anil Kapoor is set to play a significant role in the highly anticipated spy thriller Alpha, alongside Alia Bhatt, Bobby Deol, and Sharvari. The film, directed by Shiv Rawail, is being promoted as the first female-led installment in the YRF Spy Universe.

Apart from Alpha, Anil Kapoor has also been signed for Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King, which will be directed by Siddharth Anand.
