Red Fort Attack : UN Report Links Jaish-e-Mohammed, India Welcomes Global Stand

New Delhi:

A major international development has emerged regarding last year’s deadly attack near Delhi’s historic Red Fort. A recent United Nations (UN) sanctions monitoring report has directly linked the terror attack to the banned terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM). India has welcomed the findings, calling them an important step in strengthening the global fight against terrorism.

MEA’s Response

Responding to the report during a weekly press briefing, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that the findings were part of the 37th report of the UN Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team, which was made public on February 4, 2026.

Jaiswal stated, “We have noted that the UN Monitoring Team has taken serious cognizance of India’s concerns and inputs regarding cross-border terrorism and the need to strengthen the global fight against terrorism.”

Key Highlights of the Report

  • Attack Attribution: The UN report clearly attributes responsibility for the deadly attack near the Red Fort to Jaish-e-Mohammed.

  • Validation of India’s Stand: The findings reinforce India’s long-standing position at international forums that terror groups operating from across the border are attempting to destabilize the country.

  • Call for Global Cooperation: India has consistently pushed for stricter action and monitoring against terrorism at the UN, and the report reflects increased global acknowledgment of these concerns.

Diplomatic Implications

Experts believe the UN’s acknowledgment could increase international pressure on Jaish-e-Mohammed and its backers. The Indian government has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and affirmed that it will continue to raise the issue on global platforms with evidence-backed inputs.

The development is seen as a diplomatic boost for India, strengthening its narrative on cross-border terrorism and enhancing international cooperation in counter-terror efforts.
