IPL 2026: RR Need Middle-Order Firepower Beyond Vaibhav and Jaiswal Against LSG

Lucknow

Indian Premier League 2026 match no. 32 will see Rajasthan Royals take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. While Rajasthan have shown strong form this season, concerns remain over their heavy dependence on openers Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

RR have enjoyed a solid campaign so far, winning four out of six matches and currently sitting fourth on the points table. However, back-to-back losses against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kolkata Knight Riders have exposed a key weakness in their batting lineup.

The team’s success has largely depended on the performances of Suryavanshi and Jaiswal. When the duo performs, Rajasthan looks dominant, but their failures have often left the side struggling.

Focus now shifts to the middle order, where Dhruv Jurel, captain Riyan Parag, and Shimron Hetmyer have not delivered consistently. Their underperformance is becoming a growing concern as the tournament progresses.

Suryavanshi has scored 246 runs in six innings, while Jaiswal has added 223 runs in six matches. In contrast, Parag has managed just 61 runs in six innings. Jurel has scored 181 runs with two half-centuries but has lacked consistency, while Hetmyer has struggled with only 39 runs in four innings.

As Rajasthan prepare to face Lucknow, head coach Kumar Sangakkara will expect a stronger showing from the middle order. With the playoff race heating up, RR will need a more balanced batting effort rather than relying solely on their opening pair.
