Finn Allen Becomes KKR Fourth and New Zealand’s Second Centurion in IPL History

New Delhi

Finn Allen stole the spotlight during the IPL 2026 clash between Delhi Capitals and Kolkata Knight Riders at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday evening. The explosive opener smashed a breathtaking century to guide KKR to victory and etched his name into the IPL record books.

With Delhi Capitals setting a modest target of 143 runs, Allen made full use of the opportunity and played a sensational unbeaten knock. He reached his century in just 47 balls, making it the fastest hundred ever scored by a KKR batter in IPL history.

Finn Allen remained unbeaten on 100 runs off 47 deliveries, hitting 5 fours and 10 massive sixes during his innings. With this knock, he became only the fourth batter to score a century for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL.

The New Zealand star also became only the second Kiwi batter to score an IPL century after Brendon McCullum. McCullum has two IPL hundreds to his name, including KKR’s very first century in the tournament’s opening season.

KKR’s first-ever IPL century came in the inaugural IPL match in 2008, when Brendon McCullum smashed an unbeaten 158 off 73 balls against Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

After that historic innings, KKR had to wait until 2023 for another centurion. Venkatesh Iyer scored 104 runs off 51 balls against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.

In IPL 2024, Sunil Narine became KKR’s third centurion after smashing 109 runs off 56 balls against Rajasthan Royals in Kolkata.

Now, Finn Allen has joined that elite list with a record-breaking century that will be remembered as one of the finest knocks in KKR’s IPL journey.
