IPL 2026: Krunal Pandya Emerges as RCB’s Match Winner; Mumbai Indians Eliminated from Playoff Race

In the 54th match of the Indian Premier League 2026 season, Royal Challengers Bengaluru delivered a thrilling performance to defeat Mumbai Indians by 2 wickets. Chasing a target of 167 runs at Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium, RCB successfully reached the target on the final ball of the match with eight wickets down. With this defeat, Mumbai Indians have officially been eliminated from the playoff race.

RCB had a poor start to their chase as Virat Kohli was dismissed for a golden duck by Deepak Chahar. Soon after, Devdutt Padikkal departed for 12 runs off 11 balls. Captain Rajat Patidar also failed to make an impact and was dismissed for 8 runs.

Jacob Bethell looked promising but failed to convert his start, getting out for 27 runs to Corbin Bosch. Jitesh Sharma scored 18 runs from 12 balls, while Tim David was dismissed on the very first delivery he faced, caught by Ryan Rickelton off Corbin Bosch.

However, Krunal Pandya held one end firmly and played a magnificent innings of 73 runs off 46 balls. His match-winning knock included four boundaries and five sixes. Bhuvneshwar Kumar remained unbeaten on 7 runs from 2 balls, while Rasikh Salam Dar stayed not out on 3 runs as the duo guided RCB to victory.

For Mumbai Indians, Corbin Bosch was the standout bowler with four wickets for 26 runs, while Deepak Chahar picked up two wickets.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai Indians posted 166 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Their innings got off to a shaky start as Ryan Rickelton was dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for just 2 runs in the opening over. Rohit Sharma scored a quick 22 runs off 10 balls before getting out.

Suryakumar Yadav continued his poor form and was dismissed without scoring. Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma then steadied the innings with an 82-run partnership for the fourth wicket off 57 balls.

Naman Dhir scored 47 runs from 32 deliveries, while Tilak Varma contributed 57 runs from 42 balls, including three fours and two sixes.

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 23 runs. Josh Hazlewood, Rasikh Salam Dar, and Romario Shepherd claimed one wicket each.

With this victory, RCB now have 14 points and have climbed to the top of the points table.
