IPL 2026: Rizvi’s explosive 90 powers DC to the top after defeating MI

 Delhi Capitals (DC) registered a 6-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 8th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 played at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday. With their second consecutive win of the season, DC have climbed to the top of the points table.

After losing the toss, Mumbai Indians opted to bat first and posted 162 runs for the loss of 6 wickets despite a poor start. The team lost the wickets of Ryan Rickelton (9) and Tilak Varma (0) in the third over, managing only 18 runs at that stage. Suryakumar Yadav, leading the side in place of Hardik Pandya, then steadied the innings along with Rohit Sharma, adding 53 runs for the third wicket in 40 balls.

Rohit scored 35 runs off 26 balls, including 1 six and 5 fours, while Suryakumar contributed 51 runs off 36 balls with 2 sixes and 3 fours. Naman Dhir added 28 runs, and Mitchell Santner remained unbeaten on 18.

From the opposition side, Mukesh Kumar took 2 wickets, while Lungi Ngidi, Axar Patel, Vipraj Nigam, and T Natarajan claimed one wicket each.

In reply, Delhi Capitals chased down the target in 18.1 overs. The hosts had a poor start, losing 2 wickets for just 7 runs in 1.4 overs. From there, Pathum Nissanka and Sameer Rizvi added 66 runs for the third wicket in 49 balls, taking the team to 73.

Nissanka scored 44 runs off 30 balls, hitting 1 six and 6 fours. After his dismissal, Rizvi took charge along with David Miller. The duo added 78 runs for the fourth wicket in 39 balls, bringing DC close to victory.

However, Rizvi narrowly missed his maiden IPL century, scoring a शानदार 90 runs off 51 balls, including 7 sixes and 7 fours. Miller remained unbeaten on 21 and guided the team to victory with 11 balls to spare. For MI, Deepak Chahar, Mitchell Santner, and Corbin Bosch picked up one wicket each.
