Virat Kohli Scripts Another Major Record, Becomes First Batter in the World to Achieve This Milestone

Virat Kohli produced a spectacular performance in the first ODI against the West Indies, scoring an unbeaten 139 off 88 balls. During his explosive century, Kohli reached several significant milestones.

Kohli completed 7,000 ODI runs on Indian soil, becoming the first batter in the world to achieve the feat. He also surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s previous mark of 6,976 runs in home ODIs. Kohli’s innings included 10 fours and nine sixes. The nine sixes were also the most he has hit in a single ODI innings.

Kohli also crossed the 15,000-run mark in ODI cricket, becoming only the second batter after Sachin Tendulkar to reach the milestone. He achieved it in his 303rd ODI innings, faster than Tendulkar.

The former India captain completed his century in just 74 balls. It was the third-fastest ODI century of his career. His two faster hundreds came against Australia in 2013, when he reached the landmark in 52 and 61 balls respectively.

Kohli’s 139 was his 55th ODI century, and he finished the match in style by hitting a six to seal India’s eight-wicket victory.

Batting first, the West Indies scored 295/7 in 50 overs. Justin Greaves top-scored with 101, while Amir Jangoo remained unbeaten on 58. Kuldeep Yadav was India’s leading bowler, taking four wickets for 40 runs.

India chased down the target of 296 in 41.4 overs, losing just two wickets, to win by eight wickets. Captain Shubman Gill also scored a century, making 110 off 108 balls, including 13 fours and one six.

Gill and Kohli put together a crucial 151-run partnership for the second wicket, putting India firmly in control of the chase.
