Madurai/Coimbatore

The festival of Eid al-Fitr was celebrated with devotion and joy in parts of southern India on Friday, as thousands of worshippers gathered for special prayers in cities across Tamil Nadu. While many regions of the country are still observing the final days of Ramadan, celebrations began early in some areas after the sighting of the moon.

Eid Prayers in Madurai and Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, a large number of devotees assembled at the well-known Ayesha Mahal Campus in the Kuniyamuthur area. From early morning, thousands of worshippers dressed in traditional white attire gathered in orderly rows to offer Eid prayers and express gratitude to Allah.

Similarly, in Madurai, a massive congregation was witnessed at Thamukkam Ground, where devotees offered the Eid prayer in a peaceful and spiritual atmosphere. After the prayers concluded, people greeted one another warmly, embracing and exchanging Eid wishes.

Different Celebration Dates Across India

In other parts of the country, especially in northern India, Eid celebrations are expected to take place on Saturday after the completion of thirty days of fasting during Ramadan. The difference in celebration dates is due to variations in moon sighting traditions across regions.

The festive atmosphere in the southern cities was filled with joy and communal harmony. Homes and neighborhoods resonated with the sweetness of traditional dishes like Sheer Khurma, symbolizing celebration and togetherness.

Prayers for Peace and Prosperity

Following the prayers, worshippers collectively offered prayers for peace, unity, and prosperity in the country. Religious leaders and community members emphasized the importance of harmony, compassion, and mutual respect during the festival.
