Popular South Indian actress Anupama Parameswaran, known not only for her impressive performances but also for her thick curly hair, revealed that there was once a time when she disliked her own appearance.

The actress shared a video on Instagram on Wednesday in which she can be seen proudly flaunting her curly hair. Along with the video, she posted an inspiring note reflecting on her personal journey toward self-acceptance.

She wrote, “There was a time when I tried to hide my curly hair. I constantly attempted to straighten and change it. I wished my hair looked ‘normal’ like everyone else’s.”

Anupama explained that over time her perspective changed completely. She realized that the very thing that made her feel different had actually become her biggest strength.

The actress further added, “Today, my hair is one of my favorite things about myself. But what makes me happiest is when people tell me that after seeing me, they also started loving and accepting their curly hair.”

Ending her emotional note, she wrote, “There is something incredibly powerful about accepting yourself exactly the way you are. Your courage inspires others to love themselves too.”

Anupama Parameswaran is widely recognized in Telugu, Malayalam, and Tamil cinema for her natural acting style, curly hair, and charming girl-next-door image. She gained popularity through films like Premam, Karthikeya 2, and Tillu Square.

Her upcoming major project is the Telugu romantic comedy Crazy Kalyanam, directed by Badarappa Gajula. Apart from that, she will also appear in an untitled psychological thriller produced by Prerna Arora, which is scheduled to begin shooting in May 2026.

The year 2025 proved to be a remarkable one for the actress. She appeared in films like Dragon (Tamil), Kishkindhapuri (Telugu), Paradha, and Bison (Tamil), all of which received appreciation from audiences.

Among them, Paradha stood out as a women-centric emotional road drama directed by Praveen Kandregula. Released in theatres on August 22, 2025, the film featured Anupama in the role of Subbu, a village girl who challenges the traditional practice of purdah in her community.
