IPL 2026: Akeal, Noor Shine as CSK Thrash MI by 103 Runs

In the 33rd match of Indian Premier League 2026, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) delivered a dominant performance to crush Mumbai Indians (MI) by 103 runs on Thursday. Chasing a target of 208 at Wankhede Stadium, MI were bowled out for just 104 runs. This marked CSK’s third win of the season.

Mumbai Indians had a poor start to their chase, losing Danish Malewar for a duck. Naman Dhir also departed without scoring, dismissed by Akeal Hosein. Quinton de Kock failed to make an impact and was dismissed for 7 by Mukesh Choudhary. At 11/3, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma steadied the innings with a 73-run partnership for the fourth wicket.

Tilak Varma scored 37 off 29 balls with five boundaries, while Suryakumar made 36 off 30 balls before being dismissed by Akeal Hosein. Captain Hardik Pandya endured another disappointing outing, scoring just one run. Sherfane Rutherford was dismissed for a duck by Noor Ahmad, caught by Anshul Kamboj. Krish Bhagat managed only 7 runs, while Jasprit Bumrah scored 2 before getting out.

MI kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bundled out for 104. For CSK, Akeal Hosein starred with the ball, picking up four wickets for just 17 runs in his four overs. Noor Ahmad claimed two wickets for 24 runs, while Mukesh Choudhary, Jamie Overton, and Gurjapneet Singh took one wicket each.

Earlier, CSK posted a formidable total of 207/6 in 20 overs, powered by a शानदार unbeaten century from Sanju Samson. He scored 101 runs off just 54 balls, including 10 fours and 6 sixes. CSK had a shaky start, with captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring 22 off 14 balls before getting out.

Sarfaraz Khan made 14 off 8 balls before being dismissed by Mitchell Santner. Shivam Dube managed just 5 runs, while Dewald Brevis contributed 21. Kartik Sharma (18) and Jamie Overton (15) failed to make significant contributions.

For MI, Allah Ghazanfar picked up two wickets for 25 runs in four overs, while Ashwani Kumar took two wickets conceding 37 runs. This defeat marked Mumbai Indians’ fifth loss of the season.
