T20 World Cup: Captain Suryakumar Yadav Blazing Knock and Bowlers’ Dominance Power India to Victory Over USA

India began their T20 World Cup campaign on a winning note, defeating the United States in their opening match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. A match-winning innings by captain Suryakumar Yadav, combined with a disciplined bowling performance, proved too strong for the American side.

Captain Rescues India After Top-Order Collapse
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, India found themselves in deep trouble early on. The top four batters were dismissed for just 46 runs, leaving the team under severe pressure. At that crucial juncture, captain Suryakumar Yadav steadied the innings with a commanding knock of 84 runs off 49 balls. His aggressive yet composed batting guided India to a respectable total of 161 runs.
The rest of the batting lineup struggled, however, with six Indian batters failing to reach double figures. Varun Chakravarthy was run out without facing a delivery.

Bowlers Seal the Win for India
Chasing a target of 162, the USA never looked comfortable against India’s bowling attack. By the end of 18 overs, the American team had slumped to 111 for 7. Arshdeep Singh struck early, dismissing Mohammad Mohsin, who was caught by Tilak Varma. Spinner Axar Patel turned the game decisively in India’s favor by removing Harmeet Singh and Sanjay Krishnamurthi on consecutive deliveries. Varun Chakravarthy added to the pressure by stumping Milind Kumar off the bowling of Ishan Kishan.

India’s playing eleven featured Abhishek Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav (captain), Rinku Singh, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, and Varun Chakravarthy.

The USA, led by Monank Patel, fielded a team comprising Saitaja Mukkamalla, Andries Gous, Milind Kumar, Sanjay Krishnamurthi, Shubham Ranjane, Harmeet Singh, Mohammad Mohsin, Shadley van Schalkwyk, Ali Khan, and Saurabh Netravalkar.
