Virat Kohli Overtakes Abhishek Sharma in Orange Cap Race; Bhuvneshwar Kumar Holds Purple Cap

Virat Kohli climbed ahead of Abhishek Sharma in the race for the Orange Cap after guiding Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a six-wicket victory over Kolkata Knight Riders in the 57th match of Indian Premier League 2026.

Kohli played a sensational unbeaten century, leading RCB to victory and further strengthening his position among the tournament’s leading run-scorers.

The star batter has now scored 484 runs in 12 matches this season at an impressive strike rate of 165. With this performance, Kohli moved to third place in the Orange Cap standings.

However, the Orange Cap is still held by Heinrich Klaasen of Sunrisers Hyderabad, who has amassed 508 runs in 12 matches at a strike rate of 153.

Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans occupies the second position with 501 runs in 12 matches.

Following Kohli’s century, Abhishek Sharma slipped to fourth place with 481 runs from 12 matches at a remarkable strike rate of 209.

KL Rahul of Delhi Capitals is fifth on the list with 477 runs in 12 matches, while Shubman Gill stands sixth with 467 runs in 11 matches.

Meanwhile, 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi of Rajasthan Royals continues to impress and currently sits seventh in the Orange Cap race with 440 runs in 11 matches.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar Leads Purple Cap Standings

The Purple Cap is currently held by Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bengaluru. The experienced pacer has taken 22 wickets in 12 matches this season.

Against Kolkata Knight Riders, Bhuvneshwar delivered another solid performance, picking up one wicket while conceding 34 runs in his four-over spell.

He is being closely challenged by Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada, who has claimed 21 wickets in 12 matches.

Anshul Kamboj of Chennai Super Kings is third in the Purple Cap standings with 19 wickets in 11 matches.

Prince Yadav of Lucknow Super Giants occupies fourth place with 16 wickets, while Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan is fifth with 16 wickets in 12 matches.
