Kieron Pollard, batting coach of Mumbai Indians, has been fined 15 percent of his match fee for breaching the Indian Premier League Code of Conduct during the match against Punjab Kings.
In addition to the fine, one demerit point has also been added to Pollard’s disciplinary record. The incident occurred during the 19th over of Mumbai Indians’ innings, when Pollard was seen arguing with the fourth umpire and reportedly used inappropriate language.
Pollard was found guilty of violating Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which relates to the use of abusive language during a match. In an official statement released by the IPL on Friday, it was confirmed that the offence falls under a Level 1 breach for players and team officials.
The statement said that Pollard admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Pankaj Dharmani.
The match was played at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium on Thursday, where Mumbai Indians registered a convincing six-wicket win over Punjab Kings. Batting first, PBKS posted 200/8 in 20 overs, with Prabhsimran Singh scoring an impressive 57 runs.
However, Mumbai Indians successfully chased down the target of 201 runs, losing four wickets, thanks to a शानदार unbeaten knock of 75 runs off 33 balls by Tilak Varma.
