Delhi Liquor Policy Case: High Court Stays Trial Court Remarks Against CBI

The Delhi High Court has stayed certain remarks made by a trial court against the Central Bureau of Investigation in the alleged Delhi liquor policy corruption case involving Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and others.

The High Court issued notices to the accused who were recently acquitted after hearing a petition filed by the CBI challenging the trial court’s verdict.

During the hearing, Justice Swarna Kanta Sharma said the court would pass a stay order on the comments made against the investigating agency and its officers.

The court also requested the trial court to postpone the hearing in the related money laundering case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act until the High Court decides on the CBI’s appeal.

Recently, the Rouse Avenue Court Complex acquitted Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and other accused in the alleged corruption case related to the Delhi excise policy.

While delivering the verdict, Special Judge Jitendra Singh had made strong observations about the CBI’s investigation, stating that the agency’s chargesheet contained “misleading claims.”
