Pakistan national cricket team secured a comprehensive 102-run victory over Namibia national cricket team in the 35th match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 to qualify for the Super 8 stage.
Pakistan will face New Zealand national cricket team on February 21 in the Super 8, followed by clashes against England cricket team on February 24 and Sri Lanka national cricket team in their final Super 8 fixture.
After winning the toss at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground, Pakistan opted to bat first and posted 199/3 in their allotted overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan played a magnificent unbeaten knock of 100 runs off 58 balls, smashing 11 fours and 4 sixes.
Farhan shared a 40-run opening partnership with Saim Ayub and then added 67 runs for the second wicket in 42 balls with captain Salman Agha. After Pakistan lost their third wicket at 118, Farhan stitched an unbeaten 81-run partnership in 40 balls with Shadab Khan for the fourth wicket, guiding the team to a formidable total.
While Farhan remained unbeaten on 100, skipper Salman contributed 38 runs. Shadab Khan also chipped in with an unbeaten 36 off 22 balls. For Namibia, Jack Brassell claimed two wickets, while captain Gerhard Erasmus picked up one.
In reply, Namibia were bowled out for just 97 runs in 17.3 overs. Loren Steenkamp scored 23 runs, while Alexander Volschenk added 20. No other batter managed to reach double figures.
For Pakistan, Usman Tariq starred with the ball, taking 4 wickets for 16 runs in 3.3 overs. Shadab Khan claimed three wickets, while Salman Mirza and Mohammad Nawaz picked up one wicket each.
With this result, all Super 8 teams have been confirmed. From Group 1, India national cricket team, Zimbabwe national cricket team, South Africa national cricket team and West Indies cricket team advanced. From Group 2, New Zealand, England, Sri Lanka and Pakistan qualified for the Super 8 stage.
